Vascular care includes a wide variety of services that address anything from leg pain to circulation problems, and specializes in treatment of venous disease and peripheral vascular disease. Here at DMAC Vascular Lab one of our most common services includes vascular stenting. Listed below are some of the procedures we perform as well as some common issues that we address.

Vascular Stenting

Vascular stenting is a procedure used to treat arteries that are damaged in a minimally invasive manner. There are 3 different types of stenting but the simplest stent is a metal expandable mesh that is placed along the walls of the arteries to support them and prevent them from collapsing. The main goal of stenting is to prevent the artery from narrowing and allow adequate bloodflow to pass through.

Varicose Veins

Varicose veins are twisted and enlarged veins. Any veins that are close to the skin's surface have the potential to become varicosed but, they are most commonly found in the veins of the legs. This is due to pressure that occurs from daily activities such as standing and walking.

Angiogram

An angiogram is a scan that shows blood flow through the veins, arteries, or heart. These scans are done using X-rays, computed tomography angiography, or magnetic resonance angiography. The blood vessels become visible once a contrast dye is injected into the blood which will light up on the scan revealing where the bloodflow is taking place. An angiography can sometimes be the first step to find and fix any blood vessel blockages, structural heart/valve diseases, or aneurysms.

Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD)

Peripheral artery disease is a common circulatory condition where narrowing in the arteries leads to reduced bloodflow to the limbs. PAD is a sign that there is a buildup of fatty deposits and calcium in the arteries.

Venous Ulcers

Venous ulcers are open skin sores on the legs or ankles caused by poor circulation in the veins of the legs and abnormal vein function.
